Starting Out

*NOTE: Please consider the following as temporary text only, to be replaced at a future time with something less strangled.*

I was going to start out differently here with a simple explanation of this site and its goals. Instead I find myself utterly baffled by this software platform, and puzzling differences between it and other blogging platforms (at least from the no-geek-spoken-here crowd including myself).

Above is a combination of events I could have avoided, had I only been allowed to add padding above my own banner, to drop it below the mee.nu "bug" in the upper right corner. But for some reason the two images overlap. Worse yet, I'm not sure what to do about removing or moving the other mee.nu text appearing at the top of the page.

Also, I'm frankly still in the settings-stages, trying to work off old Movable Type style-sheet notes, trying to refine the broad strokes before seriously jumping into daily posting. It would greatly help if there were BEGINNERS instructions on where to find the proper template, copy it for offline changes, and then how to load the new file, and into which folder, AND what to say in the overall index for the blog.

As I see it, these are greatly scattered in this chaotic start-up system. As I see it, ME 'N' YOU is supposed to be far more user-friendly than its initial impression has given me.

Why, for example, does this system refuse to allow creation of a new category, before entering the post?

Post contains 259 words, total size 2 kb.

1 I also can't locate where to change the type font for headlines, either in size or color. Evidently "text color" includes heads.

2 Additionally: I thought I had set my profile to EDT and see the post reverted to default after I set it.

3 Well, I did reset the clock again but won't know if it finally took, or whether something else is wrong here on why it is not taking effect. Instructions say to simply create a line of code and insert it, but does not indicate which template is affected, or where the line of code would do.

Changed size for the date. It did not take. Also, I opened the spam folder and saw only my index page---as if this software thinks my entire site is spam. (Default setting during testing/trials, or a permanent glitch?)

The roadmap for beginners is nonexistent.

After entering a post or comment, I'm seeing 3:00+  of waiting time without the final entry loading.  (Oh my infinite joy....)

The roadmap for beginners is nonexistent.

5 Changed time again and now it reads one hour off, anyway. Load timed-out for the first try and hung up 4:00+ until the second try took---with the wrong time and no way to change order of items in date time line. Can't correct it just yet without fooling with the template again. Which one? Where does the line of code go to fix this? No clue in written "FAQ" (*giggle*).
